What does a PTA Do?
Lansdowne Elementary School PTA consists of parents/guardians, grandparents and family members, teachers, staff, friends, and community members. Together, we advocate for all students, support our school, provide educational enrichment, and build community. We would love to have you join us! Membership is $7 per year and can be purchased in the Online Store
Our Mission
PTA's mission is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
Educational Enrichment
- Cultural enrichment provided through a variety of in-school performances: UK Confucius Institute Chinese showcase, multiple BrightStar Touring Theater performances, UK Steel Drum Band, Bi-Okoto African Drum and Dance
- Purchased Lego WeDo sets and supplies for STEAM Lab
- Provided new musical instruments for Music classes
- Playground enhancement: Sun shades, additional basketball goal
- Purchased grade level recess equipment and P.E. equipment
- Purchased materials for Art classes
School Support
- Volunteer support for many activities and events: Fall and Spring picture days, Junior Achievement Biz Town for 5th graders, re-shelving library books, vision screening assistance, lending a hand for classroom activities, photocopying, laminating, and more!
- Purchased classroom materials for teachers and students
- Parent partnership on school committees and parent representation on School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) council
- Work with Family Resource Center to provide supplies when needed
Community Building
- Provide frequent educational and support resources for families in Lansdowne Elementary PTA Facebook group
- Hosted WinterFest for all families and staff to come together for food, fun, and a school dance
- Plan Spirit Nights for fun gatherings in the community
Communication
- Social media updates on Facebook and Wakelet including events, projects, and community opportunities
- General Membership Meetings for parents/guardians and staff to come together
- Givebacks and Website for file-sharing and membership directory
